2023 NOTE FROM METROPOLITAN & THE CHAIRMENOur 23rd annual Metropolis Golf Classic will be held on Tuesday, September 26th at Indian Ridge Country Club, 72 Lovejoy Road in Andover Massachusetts. The demand for our beloved camp continues to grow and flourish with hundreds and young people attending the camp annually. Being the ONLY fundraiser that our Metropolis organizes to support our camping ministry, your generous support is needed to afford us the ability to offer scholarships to the many campers who otherwise would not be able to attend.
Shortly after last year’s golf tournament, MBC finally was able to return to normal for the first time since Winter Camp 2020! With no COVID restrictions or protocols, our camp is not only back to normal, but is exceeding pre-pandemic enrollment levels and all registration metrics. Specifically, Winter Camp sold out within 30 minutes of registration, and when Summer Camp registration opened, pre-pandemic levels were met in less than 4 minutes. We are excited to say that this will be the one of the busiest summers that MBC has seen in 34 years of camping ministry as over 700 young people will be welcomed to our St. Methodios Faith and Heritage Center for five one week sessions of summer camp. Over the course of this year, the camp has awarded over $50,000 in direct financial assistance to just over 100 campers who would be otherwise unable to attend due to a financial barrier. While the registration fee for a one week session remains at $600 to make camp accessible to all, the true cost is over $1,200. With 38% more campers than last summer, we are relying on your support! We invite you to participate as a player and/or as a sponsor. Please consider inviting others you know to join as players and/or sponsors. Finally, please also invite non-golfers to our dinner in the evening. Our collective effort will help ensure that our camping ministry continues to be available to all our youth. All the proceeds will benefit the “Support-A-Camper Scholarship Program” of our MBC camping ministry, as well as our St. Methodios Faith and Heritage Center in Contoocook, New Hampshire.
